Since, Coronavirus pandemic many countries particularly in Europe have suspended flights as a precautionary measure. But, there are likelihood that air bridge flights will operate from UK amidst of the pandemic crisis.

Currently, government’s restrictions forbid travellers to travel overseas for the purposes of tourism.

But, once air bridge flights will become effective from the UK. Travellers can travel again in a particular country.

What Are Air Bridges?

The air bridges known as “travel corridors”. That will allow tourists to travel between two countries without needing to quarantine.

Currently, in some European countries travellers will need to follow 14 days of quarantine rules. UK introduced similar measure from June 8, 2020.

However, agreements can succeed between countries where there are low cases of Coronavirus.

Government’s may agree to waive the two-week period to allow tourists to travel without restrictions.

Which Countries Are Considering Air Bridges?

Although, British tourists can visit Greece, Iceland and Portugal within upcoming days.

Portugal’s foreign minister has confirmed his country is talking to UK counterparts about air bridges so tourists can avoid being quarantined.

Augusto Santos Silva told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme that “quarantine is an enemy of tourism”.

He added: “Our diplomats will work together to guarantee that British tourists coming to Portugal would not be subjected on their return to England to any kind of quarantine.”

If the agreement goes ahead. It will be the first air bridge between European countries.

When Air Bridges Will Become Effective?

There are indications that air bridges programme will become effective by the end of June once the government signs agreements with countries.

But, the only barrier is government’s newly introduced quarantine rules. As some airlines are consider for legal actions.

Currently, travelling between Common Travel Area for an instance Ireland, Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey are exempt from 14 days quarantine.

Which Airlines Will Introduce Air Bridge Flights From The UK?

There are no specific guidelines airlines from the UK. But, the agreement become functional airlines may provide more accurate guidance for passengers.
